This wasn't the easiest shoot I've ever done. The light was going behind clouds, and when it came out Kat's eyes started watering. There are a lot of white walls where I did the shoot, so when it gets bright it gets very bright.
Kat did bring along a lot of outfits. Unfortunately we had a bit of a deadline, but even so we managed to shoot a lot of fun stuff and a fair amount of variety. It's amazing how the least contrived, and sometimes the simplest shots are the best. Also, I find a smiling picture seldom works. It's much better to have that 'between expressions' sort of look: you know, mouth slightly open, better yet with a few teeth showing.
I'm also a great believer in a 'natural look' . Kat's hair is actually naturally kinky. Slightly curly. I wanted to see what that would look like, but in this shot, the light works beautifully with her straight hair.
What I also found amazing about her is that she doesn't have to obsess about her body (one of those rare exceptions among women). She says she weighs 50kg, and while she goes to gym, it's not an every day thing. I guess someone up there, when he waves his magic wand, decides to make some people's lives a living hell, and for other's he paves the way with golden sunbeams.
