Senseless in SA: Now on OHMYNEWS Top 10

My article Where's the Sense in South Africa? posted on OHMYNEWS has already made their Weekly Top 10 ranking (currently 9th) after being up for just two days. There have been a few comments and personal messages sent in response to the article.

On Amatomu (the South African aggregator) seems like South Africans in South Africa aren't particularly interested in the idea of waking up to reality, or doing anything about it. My website has also fallen off their News&Politics Top 30. I guess I'm not relevant?

On the poll running on my website people say they want to read about my personal life and see my photography. No one is interested in the news. Even Hot Girls gets more votes.

The news I generally post on my website is very very urgent news. But no one cares. Meanwhile the fuel price goes up 50 cents next month, and on this website I've predicted we will see $110 oil by July. When that happens everyone will act so so surprised. How did this happen? KOO KOO! When do we start shifting our focus from what we 'want' to hear about, to reality? It doesn't make any sense.

NVDL Cracks Top 100 (SA Blogs)

A lot can happen in 10 minutes on the internet, and in the broiling sky above our offices. In about that space of time this blog has rocketed from around 120-something to around 90th place (SA Top Blog's, by reads).

This is not only a factor of being relevant to South Africans. Right now Google Analytics puts the total number of visitors from the UK just edging out SA surfers, with the USA in 3rd.

Meanwhile, outside the clouds are gathering, and there are reports of police being dispatched in Pretoria in lieu of the approaching storm. If it gets any darker I think I'm also going to get out of here in the next 20 minutes, but something tells me, so is everyone else.

It also occurs to me that the internet is an incredibly vital and useful tool for the dessimnation of extreme weather warnings, at least, while the power is up and running in those HYPER-local areas. It's likely to become a trend as climate change intensifies around us.

NVDL Overtakes Bullard's Bullog

Blogging about why not to blog is a popular topic in the blogosphere. Because it comes back to the question: Why blog? The answer may be: why not?
While Bullard's opinions are far from impotent - in fact they are a credit to the blogosphere - the blogosphere is occupied for the most part by the Braindead. I don't blame Bullard though for reaching the point of ENOUGH; the endless vitriol on his site (people leaving emtionally charged negative comments) is just draining to behold. I wouldn't waste my time responding to that sort of soap scum either. It's a sad indictment of the average netizen.

Meanwhile, on a happier note, it's a credit to David Bullard's popularity and longevity that even having officially (?) signed off, signed out and au revoir-ed the blogosphere, his blog which was last updated on 21 September has only just been overtaken by this blog. This patriarch of the blogosphere, will it be allowed to crash from its dizzy heights? Will the Bullog be resurrected? David, is this really your final post? And is that your final answer?
