Ironman blog vs Ironman blog

SHOOT: Below are two takeouts from two of South Africa's best Ironman athletes, current SA Champ Raynard Tissink, and the comeback kid, James Cunama.  Both are gearing up for the ultimate faceoff, the World Ironman Champs, in Kona, Hawaii.  Check out their lives and times below.

Raynard:
Picture an express flight (small plane, small seats), the plane is full (not a single empty seat). Picture the HUGEST person you have ever seen (my guess, in excess of 250kg). Now guess where he’s sitting…
Please don’t sit here. Please don’t sit here. Please don’t sit here - my pleas went unanswered, and as I sat trapped against the window by bulging waves of human flubber, unable to breath, the mammoth man started falling asleep.Read more.

James:
‘Number 17. Pull over. Put both feet on the ground and stand down!’
WHAT?! WTF? There is no-one around me? Did I drop a bar and am guilty of littering? Nope. Apparently I was guilty of breaching the Stagger Rule. (I will bite my tongue on this, but… the rule is idiotic. I was more than 50m behind the rider ahead, and not catching him. There is no way in hell that I could get any advantage what-so-ever at that distance, no matter where I was riding. Why encourage athletes to ride in the middle of the road, especially when there is no road closure?! Read more.
