NEW YORK – The former top executive of American International Group Inc. plundered an AIG retirement program of billions of dollars because he was angry at being forced out of the company, a lawyer for AIG told jurors Monday at the start of a civil trial. Attorney Theodore Wells told the jury in Manhattan that former AIG Chief Executive Officer Maurice "Hank" Greenberg improperly took $4.3 billion in stock from the company in 2005, after he was ousted by the company amid investigations of accounting irregularities.

Every, I repeat EVERY accusation against Hank Greenberg has been thrown out. In fact the company had to pay him $400 million for false statements made by them after he left. Greenberg built AIG from nothing and his departure lead to its collapse last year. He is now building a new company from scratch and is slowly poaching all of the AIG staff who do not want to be run by bureaucrats in DC. Only those who do not know the full story blame Greenberg for thses accusations. Or those who dislike him for other reasons.
