Zimbabwe - 12 000 cases, 473 dead + WHAT IS CHOLERA?

Now they've cut the water supply in Harare to curb the Cholera outbreak. What would you rather die of - thirst, or from drinking shitty water.

Human rights groups in Zim estimate the death toll is twice as high - at about 1000.

Cholera is bad news b.t.w. - it's an infectious gastroenteritus with the main symptom massive diarrhea and dehydration.

Wiki: In its most severe forms, cholera is one of the most rapidly fatal illnesses known, and a healthy person may become hypotensive within an hour of the onset of symptoms; infected patients may die within three hours if medical treatment is not provided.

“Cholera outbreaks in Zimbabwe have occurred annually since 1998, but previous epidemics never reached today’s proportions.

The last large outbreak was in 1992 with 3 000 cases recorded,” the WHO said in a report.

The WHO said in a report that the cholera outbreak is affecting most regions of the country with a fatality rate of up to 50% in some areas. It reported 473 deaths from 11 700 cases.
