What Lance is riding, and why he is riding

Lance Armstrong: It’s so empowering to see individuals all over the world advancing this issue in the most creative ways.

SHOOT: I don't know which is more wonderful or incredible. A person who gets on his bike to inspire a fight against cancer, one of the biggest killers of human beings out there (and much of it is due to bad lifestyle, thus preventable), or someone who just inspires people to ride bicycles. The world sorely needs more of this sort of person: disciplined, healthy, inspired and completely aware of the work ethic involved.

WHY I RIDE
About a year ago, during our LIVESTRONG Summit in Columbus, Ohio, I started thinking about returning to professional cycling.  I knew I could compete at the highest level of racing but this time I was motivated from a different perspective.

Meeting so many people over the years…so many survivors…has built in me an ever greater sense of urgency addressing the hurdles in cancer control and, ultimately, telling survivors’ stories.
