Fifa Deputy's Cufflinks stolen - relax, it was by a Zimbabwean security guard, and someone then stole them from her

“We cannot allow people like you who come to our country to destroy the image of the host of the most prestigious event in the land,” he said.

SHOOT: Does this mean Sepp Blatter will give us a C minus instead of a B+? Personally I think the transport and in-stadia facilities deserve a D+. One more thing. Will the Fifa Wiorld Cup erect special swine flu hospital tents to quarantine swine flu cases beside the stadiums?

FIFA deputy president and chairman of the Confederations Cup Organising Committee Issa Hayatou has been a victim of Mzansi thuggery.

Hayatou lost cufflinks worth more than R8000 when a security guard gained entry into his office in Sandton and stole them during the Confederations Cup last month.

Senziwani Precious Mlala, a Zimbabwean, was posted to protect staff and their goods at the Fifa headquarters on June 20 – but decided to steal from her charges instead.

She later confessed to her employer and the police that she stole the cufflinks. After her confession, the police and her boss accompanied her to her place in a bid to retrieve them.

“However, we couldn’t find them. I suspect I might have misplaced them or they were taken by my roommate,” say Mlala.

She appeared at the Randburg magistrate’s court on two counts of theft on Wednesday. She was found guilty and fined R1000 or three months behind bars.
