Bullshit Beer
NVDL: The worst ad on TV right now? It's about a piece of wheat talking about commitment. Even after it loses its head, it's still talking, meanwhile its compadres are being liquidised into 'all natural' beer. If you have ever been to the Oktoberfest, in fact if you have ever tasted any other beer, you'll realise Castle is a chemical concoction. It tastes terrible. To even use the word 'natural' in the same sentence as 'Castle' is the equivalent of Beer Blasphemy. True Beer? More like Bullshit Beer. Give me a Windhoek, Heineken, Bud or anything else. Please. Meanwhile...

Castle quits the laager
By Mark Gleeson
It was no classic, last Saturday's final in Durban, but Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates played with an attacking verve that provided the crowd with plenty of entertainment.
Had it not been for both sides turning over possession on a regular basis, it might have been a better game. But with a crowd estimated at more than 40 000, a balmy night and two determined teams, it proved a successful conclusion to the SAA Supa Eight Cup.
Next year the trophy will carry a different sponsor's name: SA Airways has ended its contract with the Premier Soccer League.
It always seemed a strange marketing match-up. The football audience is surely not SAA's target market, but then CEO Khaya Ngqula has always been a big football fan and, perhaps, a little (or a lot of) ego swayed the decision.
A much bigger loss for the Premier Soccer League is expected in the coming weeks when Castle Lager ends its long-term sponsorship. It made the strategic decision to concentrate on the national team instead.
This means SABMiller falls just short of 50 years of continuous sponsorship of some form or other of club football in the country, starting with the Castle Cup in 1959 at the advent of professional football. It cost the company £500 and a gleaming silver trophy, a far cry from the R500m deal done in conjunction with Absa for Bafana Bafana earlier this month.
