This is what RED RED wine does!

My camera gave up the ghost just as things were getting more interesting. Corneli convinced me to join her and some of our friends in Itaewon. In Gecko's we met Minjung, Karlee, Rowan and Sybill, and Joanne came a bit later, along with Anthony and his friends. We had Quesedillas (delish) and I had a cheeseburger. I really have to recommend Gecko's cheeseburgers as probably the best tasting in all of Korea. Better than Krazee Burger, and also Burger King.

I had a great time in Gecko's, nice to see some old friends again (Rowan and Sybill are going to the States and Canada to Meet The Parents), and I lent Karlee my copy of The Long Emergency (am interested to see what the Zelmers make of it). It was good for me to leave Gecko's before it became the Smoke Zone. My cough is still lurking so I can't afford to be shouting and gasping for breath filled with toxic vapors.

From there we waddled off to Helios, saw Bev and Vanita on the way, sat ourselves on a lovely terrace overlooking the crowds in the street, and perched a bit above the dance floor. We had some wine, some more wine, and then well, even MORE wine, and then dancing...Karlee was being a shoulder to lean on in the ladies room(thanks Karlee) and South Africa was beating Uruguay in a rubgy game on the TV screens above the bar.

We left quite early, at around midnight, and caught a taxi home. It's a 35 minute trip and costs W25 000 (about R130). The driver wanted me to pay W28 000 but his meter read W23 000 so he reluctantly met me halfway. It's much cheaper to catch a bus (about W2000 or about R15) but not everyone was up to the journey or able to stay awake thanks to a few too many glasses of red wine. (Noise of throat clearing).
It was my first time at Helios (Corneli is already a regular), and a lot of fun, and a nice layout to the place (I was expecting it to be crummy, but it is quite classy)but I didn't mind leaving early as I need to get healthy again, and rest, and also don't want to write off Sunday by staying out all night.

It was actually a lovely day today in Korea.
