Crazy Money

Wow, the Rand/Won exchange rate is awesome. R1 = W160. A few months ago it was R1 = W180. I have also been told that my credit card debt (probabably from Amazon orders) has leapt, and now I owe R700 on it. I called AMEX Korea and they said they are 'just a franchise'. They said 'you can buy anything you like, anywhere in the world, here or anywhere else, you must just pay for it in South Africa'. Does that make sense? That's like, you can buy McDonalds anywhere, but you can only pay for it at a store 5000 miles away. A great recipe to force someone into debt.

I need to investigate how to transfer money to my credit card from here. It's supposed to go into Nedbank, but I am not sure what branch, account number etc as it is not exactly the same as a bank account, or even a credit card at a bank. This is an American Express card given out by Nedbank.

I've emailed my father and actually a few other people, and it's discouraging how hard it is to simply get my own assets transmitted, using other people as agents. The best solution is obviously to be in a position where your reliability on others is 0%. Then no one can let you down.
I do see things in a very simple way as in: problem, I need X and Y to bring about a solution. It's harder for me to understand that A and B are in fact people who receive an email and think....urgh. Why should I do that, what's in it for me.
My concern really is that in the fineprint of American Express is some kind of stipulation saying for everyday the minimum balance isn't paid, you get a fine of say R50. Globalisation my foot. If you can't settle your credit card bill in a foreign country, you're reduced to the real world setup of the 1970's.

I haven't been able to access my own website, this one, for about 24 hours. Anyone else have the same problem?

Today I was also chronically sleep deprived, due in part to worries about money and also the insomnia was made worse by another excellent book I am reading, and unwilling to part with, even bleary eyed at 5am after being up all night.

My school still has not sorted out my accomodation...why should they now that I have signed a contract and am working?
I am a bit too tired at the moment to start the whole campaign to put a bit more pressure on them. I sent Michael an email suggesting we sort it out by the end of the week. No response. I've sent a handful of emails related to my credit card, no responses either.
Going to sleep early tonight and not worry about any of it. If I did I'd develop a small ulcer and one of my ears might fall off.

Day 4 at work. Came home in the bus with one of my colleagues, who lives near where I am.
It's her father's birthday today, so she left a bit earlier than usual.
Don't remember much of work today....just so sleepy. I know there was a girl wearing a yellow Garfield top that I teased...asking her why she wears her pajamas to school (you can see where I was mentally)...

Will try to make some kind of arrangement tomorrow to bring about some much needed emergency venting. Failing that, things might go Nuclear.
