Are we all falling asleep? We have one of the world's worst crime problems, a murder rate that would make an Iraqi wince, and you have our President seemingly unsure about what do do about the stellar performance of our only effective counter-measure, the only major antitote to crime in this country. This can't be allowed to happen.
Yes, the Scorpions have done too good a job. See, they caught the likes of Selebi and made life very uncomfortable for JZ. Charles Nqakula needs to be the focus of a special investigation. I heard the announcement in Parliament on TV, and it was to raturous applause. What the FREAK is going on? Are we becoming the mob (both meanings are sadly approrpriate)?
I feel like throwing my hands up into the air. Is everyone corrupt?
Trapido speaks authoritatively on this. Citizens need to speak out to prevent insanity from prevailing. Either you're with us, or you're with the criminals.
Scorpions and now organised crime? Why not just legalise corruption?
Comments on his blog lead one to believe that the Scorpions are 'white witch-hunters', and thus are being disbanded because they are apparently racist. No one seems to care what crimes were committed, just what the race of the criminal was. How crazy is that.

This Makes Me Angry
Robber empties gun on top matriculant
JOHANNESBURG – A matriculant who got eight distinctions last year may have lost the use of her legs after an armed robber “emptied his gun on her”, the Beeld newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Beeld reported that Razelle Botha, 18, one of the top pupils at Waterkloof High School last year, was at her home in Moreletta Park at 9.45pm on Monday night when the robber shot her in the arm, chest, stomach, lung and spine.
Professor Willem Botha, a retired professor of geophysics at the University of Pretoria, was at home with his daughter when two robbers burst in. He was wounded in the groin.
The robbers fled with a laptop and a camera.
“I can’t imagine how anyone can empty their gun on a child,” said a heartbroken Kobie Botha, Razelle’s mother, at hospital on Tuesday.

NVDL: To ruin someone's life over a laptop and a camera? Is that the value of a human life nowadays? Or is it just spite and hate? I guess if you don't value your own life much, why would you bother to respect anyone elses? Even so, this is the sort of thing makes me mad. And what does Mr Nqakula say? Something like: "we're worried." You're worried? Is that all? Kooo kooo. Smell the coffee! I hope they catch the perpetrator bloody soon.
