Melissa Huckaby - preacher's granddaughter - kidnaps, rapes, murders little girl, dumps her in a ditch in a suitcase, then cries about it

SHOOT: Her grandfather said the person on television accused on the crime was not the same person as his granddaughter. Is this an indication of inherited schizophrenia or is he suggesting there is a Melissa Huckaby lookalike who is also a Sundayschool teacher walking around? Huckaby's crimes are dead serious - serious enough to warrant the possibility of the death penalty\ in California.

clipped from news.yahoo.com Huckaby was arraigned Tuesday on one count of murder with the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd or lascivious conduct with a child under 14 and murder in the course of a kidnapping. She cried as the judge read the charges, and did not enter a plea. The special circumstances mean Huckaby, if convicted, could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. District Attorney James Willett said he has not decided whether to seek the death penalty. Huckaby's grandfather, Pastor Clifford Lawless, was interviewed the night Sandra's body was recovered, and police took computers and a phone from his home, where Huckaby also lived. Police haven't said what was seized from the church. Huckaby told a reporter Friday the suitcase that contained Sandra's body was hers, but it had been stolen out of her driveway the day Sandra disappeared. Police arrested her later that night.

The Scorpions are investigating more than 30 000 civil servants for fraudulently receiving housing benefits. A team of a special investigations unit headed by Willie Hofmeyer, including Scorpions and housing officials, has identified 31 259 bureaucratsa (from a list of 53 555 government workers) believed to be involved in the massive housing scam.

The team examined whose names appear in a database of subsidised housing and found that 31 259 did not qualify.

NVDL: While the above is disgusting, I think the whole Housing Rollout needs to be re-thought. Obviously I don't expect government to consider this option, but developers in general ought to pursue the New Urbanist approach to the massive housing project underway.

What this involves is instead of converting shanty towns into endless one-house x one-house sprawl (monotonous and ugly), there should be a 3 storied approach, and an attempt to lock these developments into organic systems (streams etc), and an effort made to create friendlier, more attractive walkable communities.

Why not make these areas inhabitable, not the sort of places people want to get away from. Are they just dormitories, or will people want to live there?

The poor get poorer, but their poverity impoverishes us all. Those profiteering out of this do so also at the expense of plenty of entreneurs, not to mention the homeless masses.
