Stop/Start

Posted by PicasaToday began early for me - before 5am, I was being driven home by my girlfriend. I read thje newspaper, got some sleep around confusing dreams. The theme of last night's dream was the fog of war - flying in helicopters over land that looked like Lesotho but was in fact Saudi, and there were many white devices capturing sunlight, that looked like small lighthouse towers, and turned them into weak lasers. Bizarre.

After not enough sleep I started working on going BIG getting HIGH - about my trip across Eastern Lesotho. I had some fun with it, designing the layout of the text and inserting photos. I hope my editor will approve - chances are he'll think I'm violating my mandate. MY job is to write, not to design and edit my own stuff. Or he might think I did a good job. I think the background might need to be softened, and made a little grayer, as their are white specks that interfere with the white text, making it in parts harder to read. Overall it seems to fit together quite nicely.

After that I started on GOING DOWN, about descending the Sani Pass. I think it works - again it is so hard to leave out some of the colorful details, and also to choose the best pictures.

The next story is go POLO, which I'll start on tomorrow. After that I have to write about Moorcroft Manor, Loteni, Cleopatra and 'The Bend' as places to visit on the Midlands Meander. Not sure what is a good title for that piece, or exactly how to write it. Perhaps just to state it matter of factly. Green and Gold, Romancing Under the Stones or Meandering Through the Midlands are some ideas for titles at this point. . I have a feeling the latter title will work better, as this piece might be enjoyed by the ladies. Any comments, suggestions - do let me know. Scroll down for some pictures to help guide you through a thousand words.

Boy Interrupted

I was interrupted halfway through the GOING DOWN story. I scowled at my visitor, and almost chased him away. After some more banter I invited him in for coffee, and we ended up chatting for 2-3 hours, about everything from life in America (where he's been for the last 4 years), to Ironman (he's raced in Hawaii), to photography, to mountain climbing, to the moon landing, to oil theory... What else is left?

I arranged with him to go to gym and then called and he wasn't home. Since it's been raining, and the bakkie is being fixed, I had no way to get to gym, so didn't train at all today (or yesterday). Frustrating.
I expect I'll cycle to gym tomorrow, whatever the weather, and get the swim in. Need to do a 140km cycle. Either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning. I got sick last year around this time, so perhaps missing the odd workout while I am so hayfeverish is not the end of the world. Feeling quite stuck and frustrated though.

Will go to the university tomorrow and sign up for English II and III. By the end of next year I might be a qualified teacher, something to fall back on.
Feeling low today but I think I have the antidote. Will exercise vigorously tomorrow.

Exactly what credentials does one have to have to teach in South Africa?

I currently hold a Masters in Technical Education, and a Bachelors in Secondary Education what would I have to do to teach there?
