Hard Swim

On Wednesday I went to gym with CJ and took on my 1 year old ghost - I was swimming against a workout I did a year ago. But before the swim I weakened myself with this:

Cycle: 0:20
Distance: 8.8km (approx)
Maximum level: 9
Maximum HR: 165

Then I got down to business. This was tough. Lots of it felt like drowning!

1st km: 15:09
500m: 07:37/500m 07:33
4 x 250m
5 x 50m
10 x 25 m
Total time: 1:05:30
Total distance: 3.5km

Comparative:

Swim 3.5km
Time:1:04
1st km: 14:47 (new record for this year)
2nd km: 2x500m: 1st 7:18, 2nd 7:08 (combined 14:26)
3rd km: 4x250m: 1st 3:34, 2nd 3:31, 3rd 3:29, 4th 3:27 (combined 14:01)

Weight now: 84.65kg/ Weight then: 78.9kg

I think Ryk Neethling's sister was swimming beside me. She was just powering through the water, even faster than me when she was swimming breastroke (the slowest stroke) and I was swimming crawl. Very slim, thin actually, with a weird bikini bottom tan mark appearing below the line of her full length costume. Kind've sexy. Noticed it when she was swimming backstroke.

I found this workout very hard, and was very tired afterwards. I think I put my body under a lot of stress, hence the 'hernia' experience afterwards. I've just come back from some coffee and my stomach feels very tight - will have to go to a doctor tomorrow.

After the swim I did a number of exercise in the gym, including a few too many situps. Quite a shock when your body does something it's never done before. It's a machine that we sometimes believe will never break down, or that it can't breakdown. Shows you how well it is designed, even better than a Toyota.

Have not exercised yesterday or the day before. One of the reason's is because it has been raining without let up, I've also been very busy polishing articles, writing up a CV and doing the red tape necessary to sign up for a PGCE - postgraduate study. Apparently I am already qualified to teach up to grade 12 - who knew?
