Today was really tough. It may be due to lack of training, may even have a slight cold or something. Have been suffering a lot from hayfever - eyes puffy, nose streaming etc.
Alex and CJ cycled too, so there was some competition between us. Got off to a cracking start (HR above 170 as usual) and lost the elite bunch after only about 5km or so.
Got into a good rhythm though, but inexplicably caught a lot of wind even though I was with the big following bunch (Alex was in a leading group of 10, which then split into 2 x 5). CJ was with me. I fell off, but battled back with another guy, and then CJ kicked up a sharp hill, throwing me off - since I'd just expended a lot of effort to catch the bunch.
The ride back was quite good - cycled with a pair of black white BIONICS riders, and a dad and daughter pair, and a black guy. Worked nicely together. Felt exhausted at the end of it. Am cycling tomorrow at 6am or 6:30 am, just to loosen the legs. Need to get into a more regular training routine now.
Yesterday the Cheetahs lost to the Bulls 18-30, although with 10 minutes to go it was 18-20, and we just had to convert a try to draw level. The kick missed and then all the impetus went out of the team. Amazing how a small thing has a domino effect.
One has to be vigilant to stay on top.
I've had positive reports from my editor on an article I wrote called GOING BIG GETTING HIGH, and also from oil images, asking me to send more.
I'm also officially a student once more - have a student card and will be taking a couple of English classes, basically one a day, Monday to Thursday. Should be interesting.
Need to rest now and take it easy for the remainder of the day.
