Do you go to the grocery store or supermarket with a shopping list? Research has shown that those who shop with lists spend more time in the store, and this usually translates as follows:
more time = more temptation = more buying
A lot of shoppers who use lists often reward themselves with impulse buys once they are done with the list. Maybe a bottle of wine etc. If your plan is to buy only the things you need, shop with that in mind, but don't take a piece of paper.
You should have a clear idea of what you want, hit, and run out of there.
