Look at the horizon (this is just beyond the suburban limits.) See how few trees are growing on the grasslands... That's the natural state of the land...supporting just about as much grass and trees as the rains allow. This makes one wonder how a city, even as small as Bloemfontein, would deal with an Energy Crisis that starts far away but begins to manifest in local petrol tanks. It takes energy to grow gardens, fertilise them and maintain them. Will we be able to afford to do this in the coming years?
