Stretch Yourself in the Wind

Wish I could have done that in the Argus. In the paper today they say the wind was around 25-35 knotts early in the morning, and just a few hours later went up to 50 knotts.

It was definitely 50 knotts by about 10:20am, in other words, when I finally made my way up towards Smitswinkel. We also had temperatures about 5-10 degrees higher than the cyclists who left an hour or more earlier.

I had thick columns of snailing slugs to wade through. What I am saying is if I had been allowed to ride the whole course on my own, an hour earlier, I probably would have gone more than a minute faster. (Note that the tongue is firmly in the cheek...)
