Africa chooses Moammar Gadhafi to represent its interests

It is no surprise that Africa is the wasteland that it is, and will remain a moral wasteland when we choose to serve the leaders we do.
It's going to be a great gang this year - South Africa will bring Jacob Zuma to the club, he'll be rubbing shoulders with Mugabe and Gadhafi. Maybe they can swap arms deals over lunches, and play poker with national AID money while puffing on cigars.

Take your pick - dictator, terrorist, criminal, militarist...this is a man who imprisons people for dissent, who shoots down public aircraft over foreign soil to score political points. But there is far more wrong with the idiots who elected this man than the man himself.

Some African leaders offered tepid praise for the choice of Gadhafi, who grabbed power in a 1969 coup. Rights groups called him a poor model for Africa at a time when democratic gains are being reversed in countries such as Mauritania and Guinea. Once ostracized by the West for sponsoring terrorism, Gadhafi has been trying to increase Libya's presence on the global stage and its regional influence — mediating African conflicts, sponsoring efforts to spread Islam on the continent and pushing for the creation of a single African government.
