Maybe it's the yearning for everlasting life that drives this belief. Wow, it sounds too good to be true! Believe in him, practice and preach his ways, and you will be happy forever. After you die, though, not now.
Seriously, think about it. It makes no sense people!
SHOOT: Read the many comments attached to this article.
How any person can believe that a supreme being exists that created all we see is beyond me. I do not understand how they blindly choose to believe it, instead of sitting down for a moment and trying to think it out, trying to figure out what is actually happening.
While we will never be all-knowing, maybe it is this yearning for might and knowledge that makes humans easily believe that it already exists as an entity, an entity that is higher/larger/ than us. Maybe humans subconsciously yearn to be like a god (in terms of knowledge, not in an arrogant way) and so created such an imaginary being to satisfy our own inner yearning.
Maybe they think that, having now convinced themselves of such a being's existence, we can never attain such godliness ourselves, and are thus dependant on the one that does exist for mercy and for everlasting life and happiness.
