Bad decisions right now will be ruthlessly and cruelly punished. If your response to stress is to give up, to get drunk, to take recreational drugs - well sorry to say these are all poor decisions, and Nature is about to do some housecleaning.
My girlfriend recently smashed her car. Not her fault - although having driven with her I'm guessing she probably was driving a tad too fast. In any event, she ploughed into a BMW nose first and the plastic and soft metal of her CORSA crumpled into a pathetic steaming heap at the rear end of a black BMW (which appeared completely unscathed, even unscratched).
R28 000 in damages - but all covered by insurance. And no excess.
Her brother crashed his car at almost exactly the same time, in Bloemfontein. For anyone this is a very difficult hole to dig oneself out of. There's more - but suffice it to say he has two choices. Sink, or swim. So does everyone else.
I got my car back today from a major overhaul. The bill came to R10 600. I have to respond not by ignoring the shock or putting the whole thing on my credit card. You manage the problem using 2 vital personality traits that allow ordinary people to survive and thrive:
- be ambitious
- maintain discipline
Well, will you?
There are people out there making poor decisions all the time. Turning to anti-depressants to soothe over the rough edges of reality. Some are giving themselves a kick start out of the world by taking their own lives (what about their families, their children, those depending on them?) One thing is for sure, the darker period we are heading into, the sheer austerity, will begin to root out the weak minded and weak willed, the impulsive and those lacking in ordinary discipline. The lazy and the fat. We will have to get fitter and faster, our mental and physical bodies more lithe than they have ever been. But we can do it if we make the right choices starting now. Use logic and common sense. And be nice.
WOW NO EXCESS - WHO IS THE INSURER?
ReplyDeleteHollard as far as I know.
