Blogging about David Bain: "The evidence points conclusively to David Bain killing all members of his immediate family."

SHOOT: This is a fascinating blog by TVNZ reporter Vicki Wilkinson-Baker at the David Bain trial. It gives an on the ground sense of being-there. Baker also seems to be steering clear of offering some of her own judgements and opinions on David's culpability, which is diplomatic and probably professional in a sense, but personal insight and interpretation is the bread and butter of blogs.

They lived in a dirty, cluttered, dilapidated house. Most of
their problems hidden, most of the time. A marriage breakdown. A
father ostracised by his family. A mother

using a pendulum to decide what to buy
. A daughter working as
a prostitute. A dysfunctional family, reluctant to share its
troubles. At times it felt like prying. There is more to come.
Allegations of incest and the threat of exposure. Claims Robin Bain
was so depressed it drove him to kill his wife and three of his
children.

This case involves both forensic and circumstantial evidence.
And lawyers liken circumstantial evidence to the different strands
of a rope. Individually they may not be strong, but collectively
they're capable of bearing considerable weight.

The prosecution have made their rope. The defence will now try
to unravel it.
