Is Watchmen Director Zack Snyder Really 'Visionary'?

NVDL: Yes, visionary in the sense that he's able to translate high quality comic to high quality film. Not too many filmmakers can do that. Christopher Nolan is one. I can't think of another. Perhaps Bryan Singer.

I interviewed Snyder for Wired magazine back when he was finishing up 300 and making preparations for Watchmen. He is an ebullient guy and a quick study of source material, and I can report that he was committed to taking panels right from those acclaimed comics and stuffing them into his camera. And Watchmen, probably more than any single graphic novel in the history of comics, boasts a serious audience. Taking a look at the trailers for Watchmen, Snyder's bag of tricks is in good form. The world will find out whether Snyder is a visionary after Watchmen is released, and not sooner.
