The mean temperature in Norway is continuing to rise. Norwegian greenhouse gas emissions rose by around 8 per cent from 1990 to 2006. We expect the long-term trend of a substantial rise in total emissions to continue unless much more substantial measures are taken.
In recent years, the temperature in Norway has been higher than average . In 2003 the annual mean temperature was 1.3 °C above the average for 1961-1990. The mean temperature in 2004 was 1.4 °C and in 2005 1.5 °C above the average. In 2006 the mean temperature was 1.8°C above the average, which is as high as the previous record years of 1934 and 1990. In 2007 the mean temperature was 1.3°C above the average.
