This corner used to be a good memory. I went to church every Sunday, pretty much 51 times a year (if Christmas fell on a Sunday, no way was I going to church!). After church we'd always go to the bakery, and wait a few moments for fresh baked rolls and fresh baked bread. We got it in paper bags, and on the way home my mother usually gave us each one or two. I always pulled out the soft, sometimes hot centre, I'd eat it, and then munch the slightly harder exterior of the roll, but you could also fill it with meat or chicken if you were braaiing. Now, the corner has lost all its charm...but in its heyday it made the Kleovulus (who owned the bakery, and their son was in my class at school) very rich. They now own Barbas, a hip hangout just down the road from Oolong.  Posted by Picasa
