How Happy I am I Right Now?

This is an important question I think we all need to ask ourselves once a month or so, more if we're feeling really miserable.

I have that growing sense of joy associated with a long distance runner starting to smell the finish line. I am coming to the end of the two thirds period (4th month of 6) and from here the weather is likely to improve a great deal.

While I was swimming in the pool, I remember my best ever 100m freestyle time was 1 minute exactly. I'd like to spend a few months pursuing that time. Getting to 59 seconds would make me pretty happy.

Sports achievements, when you set them and reach them they can give tremendous satisfaction and a sense of wellbeing. Life isn't always fair, but sometimes, there's a measure of fairness in training hard and getting results.

I'd really like to find a way towards a long term happiness in a fulfilling work scenario. I have lived for many years now as a free spirit, so maybe the word 'free' needs to figure in my job description. Freelance. Freelance writing, Freelance Marketing, Freelance Sports Coaching, Freelance Teaching. In a flat world, more and more power is shifting to the Freelancers. Put another way, starting one's own one or two or three person business.

Happiness is not just about the circumstances around us, but what's also true is that a change in circumstances can also, potentially, bring about a change in one's fortunes.
Whatever happens, fortune favors the brave. And happiness doesn't favor those who don't, it tends to favor those who do.
