Wow, time flies. Second paycheck. Felt today that I...vir sekuriteits doeleindes kom ek se dit eerder in Afrikaans.
Ek dink Exposure gaan die maklikste wees, of by daardie Chinese Skool. Die ander opsie is om 'n besigheid te koop of om een te begin. Verder wil ek ook 'n Swimming Academy begin, met Total Immersion as die onderliggende filosofie.
There was a girl on the bus who was sitting almost out of her chair. I was trying to figure out why she was sitting at such an awkward angle. Then I noticed an old guy leering at her almost constantly. Gotcha.
Our school has apparently lost some students now that another teacher has quit. The director is also not around much. I wonder what he is doing when he isn't here? Perhaps looking for someone else to buy his business?
I'm amazed that I've already been here two months! Vyf maande om te gaan, as ons hierdie een tel!
To make life better I'm mixing up the material at school. Doing more oral/talking on Mondays, and Friday's, a more leisurely approach. Today, I gave them a comic which basically shows how a man and woman meet in an elevator (which gets stuck for 19 hours) and 3 months later they get married. I asked them to complete the story.
Quite interesting to see how creative some were:
1) Couple go back into the same elevator later and this time a cable snaps and they both fall to their deaths.
2) They buy a house, which burns down and kills them.
3) He turns out to be a smoker, and she nags and complains about his fitlhy habit until the separate.
4) They fight, taekwondo style, until both are dead (aka Mr and Mrs Smith with an unhappy twist)
5) The most common, by far: they have a baby, who goes to school and becomes a good student, a happy student, learning English.
Have downloaded all the stages of the Tour de France so I don't have to even post an article called Globalisation Se Voet! Yesterday a very clever girl said she wants to travel to England. It was the same day as the bombs. I mentioned Wimbledon to her and she'd never heard of it. Almost no one watches tennis here, although I've seen it on channel fifty-something. Why should they. No Koreans have a top 10 world ranking.
It's very sticky still. After the rain it gets fresher, but the stickiness is back pretty quickly. I can't say whether I prefer summer or winter here. I'd say autumn is probably best. It's cool, and green, and the air fresh and clean.
It's been an interesting week with some big changes.
Next week I must take my computer in, to get a new C drive and format the current drive.
With all the cycling I have lined up (and loaded onto my computer) it;s going to be tough to not be on the bike.
My friend Allan Muir is doing a guitar gig at Beethoven's on Saturday at 7pm. Check it out if you're in Bloem.
My Father is off to Zambia tomorrow. Will hopefully get to see some B.E.A yewtiful photos when he is back.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to turn the aircon on, and watch Le Tour De France.
