Week 19 Day 4

Wow, what a day. And where do I start.
I guess with the fact that I did no training, nothing new there, although technically I did: I did my last Core Exercises at Petro today, and paid in full. My credit card also arrived. Got an sms to go and fetch it at Nedbank Mimosa. Ain't technology wonderful.

We had a lovely Roast for lunch - dad, CJ and Corneli were there. I excused myself to have a pre-interview snooze.
With mere minutes on the clock I searched everywhere for my AAA results, and fortunately found them. At the interview this proved to be an important document because they seemed to key on the AAA experience the most.
The interview was also better than I expected. I thought they were going to go, "So, what can you do?" Aka you tell us why we should hire you. As it turned out they had already mad eup their minds that they wanted me on the team for the upcoming magazine, they just weren't ready for me to start, and wanted to know if I could commit for 3 years. One bummer: no salary because they have no idea where the magazine is going. If the 200 page glossy bombs, so does my ad hoc stake in it. Some things to consider.

Alna left early to get herself to the airport - she's going on a 3 week skiing trip. Had an interesting chat with Lian and saw the cover of the mag. Possibilties, certainly...

Also interviewed Werner for The Swimmers, and got some interesting new angles. Seems like I will be without my notebook now so will have to scribble stuff down and then retype and post it onto the site.

Body is feeling better and I really felt like swimming when I was at the pool. I saw Tim Ziehl and we chatted for a while and caught up. He's started Tim Ziehl Architects in Stellenbosch and says he is enjoying it. As well as Adventure Racing - which is pretty hard core.

Am going tomorrow to see the lions and hopefully that will get me centred. Need to swim as well, just to get calm and get a sense of balance and perspective again.

  1. Hi, Nick - I'm related to Tim Ziehl, and am trying to contact him, preferably by phone. We had email contact some time ago, but then he got busy again. Would you be able to put us in touch, please? I'm doing some ZIEHL research and would like to get a major lot done during the next two weeks (date now: 26 Jan. 2007) Thank you!
